Doug Neumann, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance

Doug NeumannDoug Neumann has been Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance since 2016, where he has also served over the past 18 years as Communications Director, Downtown Director and Executive Vice President.

Doug’s work in the Cedar Rapids area began more 30 years ago as a newspaper reporter and editor at The Gazette. He also has served on staff for the Mayor and City Council of the City of Cedar Rapids. His career highlights include numerous community development, public policy, communications and organizational initiatives that have helped shape the region.

Doug has leadership roles on the board of the statewide Iowa Chamber Alliance and at Brucemore, Iowa’s only National Trust Historic Site. He also serves on the Iowa Ideas Executive Advisory Council, the Iowa Advisory Committee of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, and the Linn County Housing Fund Board.

Among his past civic and volunteer activities, he has served on the board of directors for the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, The Arc of East Central Iowa, the Cedar Rapids Kernels Foundation and the NewBo City Market Board.

Doug, a native of Random Lake, Wisconsin, graduated with a degree in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. His wife, Jen, owns and leads deNovo Marketing in Cedar Rapids, and they have two college-aged daughters, Grace and Anna.
