Amber Mason Lusson, Public Safety Policy Expert & Community Leader

Amber LussonAmber was born and raised in northeast Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Coe College and her Master of Arts from Western Illinois University.  Following her graduate studies she returned to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, spending the following 17 years in federal law enforcement.  She spent her career with the Northern District of Iowa United States Probation Office in Cedar Rapids. She was promoted to supervisor in 2010 which then led to her position as an executive manager and subsequently recognized as a National Sex Offender Expert.  Her career and expertise took her all of the United States from Washington DC to Puerto Rico, where she assisted other districts in ensuring they were in compliance with federal statutes.  Additionally, Amber assisted in facilitation of national conferences, national leadership trainings, evidence based curriculum roll out, and she was involved with guiding updates to federal statute.  Amber was involved at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center as an adjunct instructor and trainer. Among her many duties, Amber was responsible for oversight of a sex offender unit, which was ranked as  one of the top in the country during her tenure. She found great pride in leading a team that helped ensure the safety of children. Amber is a dynamic public speaker, and innovative leader. She maintains a diverse  portfolio of certifications and was awarded numerous professional accolades.

Amber resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with her husband (Dave Lusson) and their four children. Amber remains involved in the community as a board member with Tanager Place along with her involvement at Coe College where she is a member of the  alumni council and has taught courses in the Social Justice Program.
